This book is a must need to pass NCLEX. This book is the only book that offers NCLEX style priority and delegation practice questions other books tend to have fact based questions. Also, use Saunders CD for fact type questions and the Hesi test prep cd which are similar to the actual style of NCLEX questions.

I purchased this book (2006 edition) during my Med/Surg class and realized that this wasn’t exactly the study guide I needed. Now I am taking a nurse management class and this book is priceless. The entire focus of the book is “management of care” as found on the NCLEX exam. The book is not very thick (only around 200 pages) but it is full of NCLEX style questions. The first half of the book offer’s NCLEX questions based on system (respiratory, endocrine, cardio, etc) then the second half presents case studies with questions following. Until I started taking a management class that specifically dealt with prioritization, delegation and assignment , I could not fully appreciate this study book. Many people disagree and struggle with management questions because sometimes what is done in the work place does not agree with the text book answers given on the NCLEX exam. One must learn how to answer questions the NCLEX way in order to pass. I noticed that a new addition (2010) of this book is begin released (can pre-order now) so perhaps wait for that addition if you can. It is my understanding that starting in April 2010 the percentage of management questions on the NCLEX exam is increasing therefore understanding prioritization, delegation, and assignment is critical to the nursing student.

My wife is currently studying for her NCLEX RN test. She asked me to get this for her because she felt that she was weak in Prioritization. She told me that while the book does not cover every aspect of prioritization, it is still a very good source of information. She highly recommends this book.
