I am a lactation consultant. One of the mothers I work with constantly complained of painful nipples, plugged ducts at the end of the nipples and mastitis. When she stopped using these pads she experienced great improvement. I think because the pads absorb the leakage and the gel inside thickens there is a resulting barrier to air passing which creates a wonderful warm, dark environment for bacteria to grow.

These are the only disposables that I will buy from now on. I had to change lansinoh pads after every feeding or they would leak through, and playtex pads were good, but they weren’t up to a whole night. When my baby started sleeping through the night, Johnson’s pads were the only ones that could give me the protection I needed. I would recommend them to any new mother.

I’ve tried many different nursing pads. Most are too large, itchy, noisy, uncomfortable, and not very absorbant. Finally, I found these and love them! The contour shape makes them less visable under clothing. (The only pads I’ve found that are completely invisable are the LilyPadz.) The nipple indent makes them very comfortable. And they are super absorbant. I have an overactive letdown and am constantly leaking. But these never leak through to my clothes. I can wear them at night with no problems. In fact, I went camping recently and forgot to bring extras, but one pair lasted me 3 days!
In answer to the sticking problem: During the first few weeks, I always put lanolin on when I put on new pads. Once you are established, as a previous reviewer stated, the sticking is a result of dried milk on a full pad.

I was buying my breast pads at Babies R Us and ran out so I ran to CVS and bought these. Oh Man! They are the worst. They are way to thick. You can see them through your shirt even when I wore a thick bra! I went back to Babies R Us and re-stocked. I was pretty bummed since I love the Johnson name for most of my baby stuff……

These were recommended to me when I was about to purchase the Gerber ones. A mother of 5 told me that these were the best she had ever used, and I agree. I’ve tried the lanisoh pads and they are huge. The Avent pads are not only crinkly but they itch like crazy.
These pads are comfortable, itch-free, and incredibly absorbent. The only time I have had one stick to my breast was when I didn’t change it as frequently as I should have, because there was too much liquid absorbed in it.
My favorite thing about these pads is they don’t show through clothing. The contoured design actually helps to give a little more ‘oomph’ when wearing sports bras or unpadded bras without looking like you’ve got two giant circles under your shirt (some of the other pads are quite obvious.)
The adhesive also lasts for quite a while, for people who like that. I definitely recommend these nursing pads to any breastfeeding mothers.
